To wrap up the week, what could be more exciting than having a real life author visit your class and read you some of her manuscript for her next book!!  Children's author, Ellen Potter, was here to talk with all students thanks to the efforts of our wonderful PTC!

The students have been busy practicing retelling their "Star" storybook with a partner!  Their goal is to retell with more and more of the exact words and phrases, as well as changing their voice for the character.  On Friday, they started doing their retell for the class, and I was so impressed with their story language!

October always brings Fire Prevention Safety Day, and this year Officer and Bowdoin firefighter Gariepy visited our school!  One of the things he taught the kiddos was each piece of clothing a firefighter needs to wear, and why.  Can you guess who his model was?  Our own Mr. Keith!  He also encouraged the class to talk with their family about an outside meeting place should they ever have a fire and to check for fire detectors.  If your family needs one, please contact the school, and we will pass on that information to Firefighter Gariepy.

Mrs. Libby brought her detective props today for her lesson on being a Social Detective.  The class heard a story about socially "expected" and "unexpected" behavior.  Then they played a game where they chose a slip of paper with a social situation written on it, and had to determine if it was expected or unexpected behavior!  Her lesson ended with a game of Hot Potato!

Here are some pictures from our Tear Paper Names project we did a while back!

Finally some pictures to share!  I'm so busy I forget to take them!

Everyone caught their own bubble so they would have a "Body Bubble" also know as "personal space" to adults :)

Mrs. Libby visited today and brought her book about Whole Body Listening.
Everyone made a Whole Body Listening Larry!

Another great day in Kindergarten!  Unfortunately I do not have all the "permission to publish" forms back yet, so I can not share our class picture of us on the first day!  Hopefully, soon, though!
It has been so busy that I also have not had a chance to take any pictures of all the fun things we have been doing, but I can give you some highlights!
We've been working hard to practice "whole body listening", how Boris the Bear remembered his manners at school, and made our own Boris the Bear!  We even caught a real bubble so that we would have our own "bubble space" with us all the time!
Pictures speak a thousand words, so be patient!  They're coming!
